Graduate admissions questions
I have a question about the wording of this.

A minimum average of B or 75% or 3.0/4 or 8/12, calculated over the last 60 units of your university course work. (Applicants may apply in the 4th year of their degree).
http://www.srs-mcmaster.ca/Admission...3/Default.aspx

minimum grade point average of 3.0 or letter grade of B in the most recent 60 credit hours
http://physiotherapy.dal.ca/Educatio...Sc_%28P h.php

When it says in the last 60 units/hours, does that means in your last 2 years of study (year 3 and 4). But since you apply in your 4th year, how do they see your last semesters worth of marks? Is the application conditional, so you have to maintain a certain average over your last semester

A couple of my TA's mentioned this just last week! What a coincidence

According to my TA, most grad schools only look at the last two years. From the wording/quotes you pasted here, it definitely seems like they just look at year 3 and 4.

It's years three and four. They look at your grades from first term of your last year, and will check your second term grades as well. if you slacked off they can deny you admission.

So, Grad Schools, more specifically McMaster, only check 3rd and 4th year marks?

Not necessarily. It depends on where you are applying to and for what program. All of the ones I've encountered look at your last 60 units. However, they get your entire transcript...so that that into consideration...

Some grad schools actually look at "trends" in your marks (throughout your entire undergraduate degree). They may ask you why you did so poorly in a certain year/term and expect you to explain the inconsistency.

They would also look at any required/pre-requisite courses (regardless of what year you took them in)

It depends on what grad school you're looking into.

Business schools (for MBA) have a B cutoff (so an 8) but to be competitive for med school I think you've got to have an 9 or 10 (and that's on the lower end).

What grad school are you interested in?

I'm kind of thinking about getting into a decent school in the states, but financial considerations might make that unreasonable.

I've been looking into grad schools and, so far, about half look at your entire university marks and the other half look at the final 2 years. It all depends on the school I think.

As my parents say, always aim for the top (Yes, I know, I am actually quoting my parents :|). If you have a 12 gpa, I doubt any school would turn you down.

Your GPA (though a main consideration) is actually just a step in the door. The supplementary application will often beef up and make you stand out from other "12's". Many students spend their entire time in university working on their 12 GPA, but end up not making it into grad school because their answer to what sets them apart from other applicants is only "I study all the time!"

Extra-curriculars and non-academic experience are equally important.

Yeah, US schools open up a lot of opportunity but being considered an international student almost doubles the cost. Definitely sucks.

Does anyone know how many students are actually accepted compared to how many students apply to grad school?
I know it differs with every program and every school, but I'm curious about my chances.
