Gym membership?
I was wondering how much a gym membership was? Can anyone hook me up with a link?
I'd appreciate it! Thanks a lot

I have this mega-random question. Say I wanted to do some jump-rope...where would be a suitable place to do this? I've considered doing it outside, but during the winter months that might not be possible. I'll be buying a Pulse Membership, and I was wondering if there'd be places for me to do stuff like that.

Inside the fitness studio (where they do yoga classes and such). You can borrow/sign-out a rope from the Pulse front desk

Nope. It depends on the time of day and the time of year. It'll most likely be busy during September and the beginning of October but once midterms kick in it'll die down. It'll still be busy during certain times though, usually before dinner (4-6).

In terms of the time of year, there's actually a bar graph showing the Pulse's acitvity levels by month starting from September 2008. The beginning of the year is relatively high, while summer months and exam months (December, April) have the lowest activity. The first two months of second term (January and February) are the highest. Activity has been trending upwards overall the past two years, but that probably just correlates with an increase in the student body.
In terms of the time of day, early in the morning (before 10am) and late at night (after 8pm) seem to have the lowest activity. It's definitely not shoulder-to-shoulder crowded during the peak times, but some equipment like benches squat racks and bars are in high demand.
A little off topic, but I just wanted to say that I hate the new ellipticals in the cardio area.

Oh right, January and February is also usually always packed because it's the start of a new term. No midterms or assignments. In addition A LOT of people like to make resolutions on being active and staying healthy. But as always it dies down after a while.

Thanks, Jeremy. I was sure that the base membership covered along with our tuition fees didn't include treadmills...but today my friend said it did. Won't I have to buy a Pulse Membership in order to use the treadmills, yoga rooms etc?

Unless there are treadmills in other places, you'll have to get a pulse membership in order to use them. The indoor track is included in the supplementary fees though.

Ok, so I just revisited the stats they post showing when the Pulse is the busiest: highest activity throughout the year seems to be from 5-7pm (in terms of the number of members entering the Pulse). As stated before, 6am-10am and 9pm onwards seems to be the least busy.
