The move to hamilton has been proven not to bugger up the leafs. besides them sucking anyways! They have shown that Toronto itself has the same amount of support as NY does. They estimate that the GTA can support 3 seperate hockey franchises. So having one located very close wont affect the Leafs!

Buffalo will die.

Its leafs for life anyway!

Although the competition of having a team in hamilton sure would be nice.

There is no other market like southern Ontario for hockey. This is beneficial for everyone involved. Hamilton will get a huge boost economically and civic pride will rocket, no longer will we be a second-rate city. The Toronto and Buffalo argument is stupid; if another city can't support it's team because another franchise moves to a nearby city it shouldn't be operating. Of course, Jim will make heaps of money on this investment. The NHL will also be healthier, as it makes money primarily through ticket sales rather than television contracts (Hockey is the 4th ranked sport in the US, perhaps even lower now with MMA and Poker).

News from CBC.ca: http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/stor...e-bid-nhl.html

The NHL Board of Governors is fighting the allowance of Balsillie to bid on the Phoenix Coyotes.

Yeah, I heard about that as well. This whole Phoenix/Hamilton thing is getting ridiculous.

First off, Bettman is the worst commissioner in sports history, and the NHL owners are the greediest little boys club ever. First, the CBA, then a lockout, and now THIS!

I really hope Balsillie’s bid stands and wins (which it will hopefully since no one else wants to fork out the money) and the team moves to Hamilton. This little boys club just doesn’t understand. Phoenix didn’t work out. You guys tried, and FAILED! I’m starting to think this little boys club doesn’t want Balsillie to become an owner because either, he’s old enough to be their great grandson, or because they happened to get a faulty BlackBerry.

In all seriousness, the biggest problem with the NHL owners is that they are a bunch of rich greedy old men that don’t want a young up-and-comer to show them up.

I’m really hoping for a Hamilton team in October (even though I’ll always stay a Leafs fan). Nonetheless, I hope that Balsillie wins, and rubs it into Bettman’s face!

Amazing! Bettman should just dress like napoleon. He has the whole complex! We have that whole commercial campaign against bullying and then kids turn on hockey and see adults bullying other adults. The NHL has to ditch Bettman and let someone who actually loves hockey buy this fing team! This is beneficial for all NHL franchises too! The better all the franchises do, the higher they can make their salary caps. This means players get more money which I am sure they want, and teams can start to put money into trying to get players to play for them. But I guess if they want to ensure one of their own continues to fail, and they get dragged down with them, that is the NHL's choice.

And just to wager in on the guess of why they don't like Balsillie, I def think they got a blackberry that didn't work. I know I get unreasonably upset when mine isn't working!

as long as they do better than the leafs. no offence to anyone but the past couple years they have just sucked and it really made me not even bother watching any of there games... if this team gets moved to hamilton i might actually start watching hockey again.
