What The Heck is a MINOR?
Does everyone have to get a minor?

And if so, can you minor in ANYTHING?

Minors are basically something you declare when you graduate. minors are not required and you can consult the course calendar for a list of minors and the requirements for any given minor

You don't have to get a minor, but I think it usually works out that you do anyway.

A minor, as you've probably already guessed, is the opposite of a major.

No, not everyone requires a minor. It's a matter of preference. What you can minor in is usually outlined by your faculty.

What exactly does it mean when you have a minor in a subject anyways ?

"I'm kind of good at this subject"

That you have enough of a passing interest in the subject to take a few related courses, I guess.

You have to have 21 credits in a subject to declare it as a minor. I think it's 21, anyway. You can double minor, also. So you can major in something with two minors.

A minor is a person who you don't want to wake up beside, unless you really like cops and/or Chris Hansen.

Mine says "I didn't get into Eng and Management, so I settled for Society and this Business minor."

You're not even halfway through first year yet! Relax buddy. We have workshops for these sorts of things, as well as academic advisors.

I think you should be more focused on what you want to major in, before even thinking about a minor. I only say this because many people change their minds about halfway through

choose your minor so that it will help you into whichever field of work your going into. If your job invovles being around computers and databases alot its probably a good idea to minor in computer science.

To add to your helpful suggestion, minoring in a language can also be very useful.
