A week ago, on April 4th 2007, Professor Muriel Walker, in the hopes of promoting peace, tolerance, and awareness across McMaster Campus initiated an event called "Hijab Day" in support of Muslim women, the way they dress, and the Islamic values that they hold dear. It was just a day for people to increase their understanding about the concept of"hijab" and to provide an insight on challenges they face. Students voluntarily tried them on to see what it would be like to walk around as a Muslim woman. The event was recieved positively by a vast amount of Muslim and Non-Muslim students alike and ended up with a night of discussion afterwards.
Unfortunately, there was a blatant HATE attack on the teacher's door to spread Islamaphobia and hinder the faith and strength of many on campus soon after.
However, if you feel this is unacceptable and a horrible hate crime that definitely needs to be condemned than please show your support.
