Help with Mac computer.
So, i recently got a MacBook air. I have been having trouble getting everything i need onto it from my old computer. More specifically I would like to install Microsoft Office 2007 onto it. I previously bought Office 2007 for my windows computer and still have 2 installations available so I would like to know if it is possible to install it onto the Mac. Is it compatible? And how do i install it because Macbook Airs do not have a CD drive. HELP PLEASE!!!!

They have Microsoft Office for the Mac, but I'm pretty sure since your old CD is for windows you won't be able to use it...

Also macbook airs has CD/DVD drives as a separate device. You'll have to buy one of those too.

Windows programs don't work for Macs. They need to be ported to/specially built for Macs. So MS Word 2007 won't work.

For installations, you can either buy a cd drive, or buy things online as a digital download.

Are you sure there is NO POSSIBLE WAY for it to work?

If you really need your Windows programs that badly, and if you bought the Macbook Air recently, why not return it and get a decent Windows-compatible laptop for...half the price? :S

I'm not being biased towards Windows/PC's (Okay, I am), but tbh, the reason Apple's prices are so inflated is because they come loaded with their own software. Most of the stuff you won't ever be using on there, and if you do (e.g. if you're into Audio/Video production like I am), you've got Windows alternatives for much (much) cheaper.

Besides, why'd you buy Office 2007? Whatever happened to Office 2010? I figured MS would discontinue selling MS2007 since 2010 is out now.

LOL, i agree with the comment about the Macbook air, however i did not personally buy it, it was given to me by someone who bought it a few months ago and then decided to buy another one. HAHA.
And i bought the office 2007 about a year and a half ago before the 2010 came out. But it still has 2 instalations available on it so i was hoping i wouldnt have to waste my money and could find a way to make it work with the mac.

Well you could technically run Parralels and install Windows XP and then just install Microsoft Office like regular while running XP.

OpenOffice is another option. I know a few people who prefer it to Microsoft Office.

There is a bootleg version of Microsoft Office 2011.
5 min download, works amazing.

That or you can pirate parallels to run PC programs.

First off, don't try and get a Windows laptop. I've yet to see one that works better than a Mac.

K now that that's out of the way, you can definitely try and find it online, or, depending on your needs, you could get Pages, which is Mac Exclusive and pretty good.

DO NOT get Open Office. Its garbage. No, its worse than that. Its overrated garbage.

(Boot Camp is also an option, but it'd be a pain to switch every time you need word)

1. Put the MacBook Air into a manilla envelope
2. ???
3. Solved.
