Need computer help!
Alright. Beyond Word, Utorrent, Winamp and Firefox I am computer stupid.
Just getting that out there in case this question turns out to be a real easy fix.

For those of you who are upper years you will know Clean Access Agent. It is the bane of my existence right now. It won't let me onto MacConnect without a certain security update (Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB950759) which will not install no matter how many damn times I try!! I desperately need to be able to get onto MacConnect both for work and the up coming school year.

I have talked to my friend who works for UTS and even he is at a loss for what to do, granted he was kind of in a rush at the time.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to fix this?!

When do you need it fixed by? At my work, Alex solves all of our computer problems. he's the coolest guy and he's ALWAYS helping us. I don't know if he fixes it for people outside of career services but he's a nice guy and I can beg! =)

If you could just ask for a suggestion or two I would be soooo happy! I can live for now but it makes life slightly.... difficult.

Are you running Windows XP SP2 or SP3? (you can check by pressing the windows key+r then typing winver in the run bar)

If you're trying to install the update through Windows Updates, try installing it manually by getting the .exe file from this page.

Also, what anti-virus or anti-spyware programs are you running? Sometimes they may interfere with the installation process.

I had the exact same problem this past year and no one that I asked knew how to fix it.

I ended up switching my laptop to linux and I don't have to bother with the clean access BS.

Oh, I just realized something!!

I had the same problem this year. Then one day, I went to Mills and miraculously it was already downloaded somehow and I was happy!

...I'll go talk to Alex though

Alex says to bring your laptop to Career Services and he'll take a look at it but he thinks there's something wrong with your laptop but after he looks at it he'll tell you your next steps! =)

Alright, Ken.. it says Service Pack 3. I'm going to try downloading the exe file onto my work computer and then switching it to my laptop (I'm at work right now) but seeing as work gives me an old clunker that could take a while.

Nicole, if Ken's suggestion doesn't work, when can I swing by Career Services?

UPDATE: When I tried to install the package it gave me: KB950759 Setup Error: Files from the package are incompatible with files on your system.

I go on lunch around 12:30, does he have lunch then? Cause if so I won't bug him on his lunch hour!

He has lunch at exactly that time. Are you willing to drop it off with him and then pick it up in about an hour or so afterward? He's trustworthy and a good guy so he won't look through your private documents or anything. It's up to you really though

Oh I have nothing to hide, it's just dorky pictures of my friends and family and school documents and work crap. Nothing really confidential. But yes I'd be willing to drop it off with him, around 12 perhaps?

He said 12 is perfect and that he knows how to solve the problem because he's seen it before. It's apparently a glitch with the program.
