It wasn't a joke so much as a "that's not German enough to be my name" comment. So suck it, PHLN.
I wasn't really sure why it was liked, either.

I don't demand an answer. "Demanding" something is too forceful for me. I politely ask for answers and then respectfully accept when my request is declined.

That settles it, I'm moving to Germany.
I shall feast on roasted pigs in my short shorts.

Ahem. I will ask the questions. You shall wait patiently until I can think of some new one.

One of my friends has recently begun calling me "hun" and I don't it. I don't want to start an argument with her though, so I don't say anything. It's huge deal, I guess. But I really hate being called "babe" or "baby." My bff called me baabe a short while ago and I told him to just stop. It's horrible. And the reason why I think it's most horrible if it's coming from your signifact other is that it's so interchangeable. I don't want to be called the same thing that you've called every one of your girlfriends. Making up a personal nick is so much cuter. AND ORIGINAL. Great some creativity, people, please.

Agreed! One day I told my ex-boyfriend I'd have no problem with him calling me "babe" if it weren't for the fact that I knew him when he was with his last girlfriend and I know he called her that too.

Exactly! My favourite show is The Gilmore Girl's and Rory's last bf called her Ace which I thought was soo cute! I just think it's gross that a guy will hook up with some girl for a one night stand and call her baby and then move on to his next gf and call her baby, too.

I was just thinking about that! She calls me "sweetie," though.

PHLN, some questions:
1) How do you feel about girlfriends calling you generic, non-original names?
2) Did I scare you off with my "furniture" comment? I was kidding, I think you're swell.
3) What does ":3" mean to you? I've never understood it.
EDIT: 4) What are girls of other worlds like?
ANOTHER EDIT: 5) How do you feel about our conversation on another thread getting removed because it was off-topic?

I use "hun" and "darling" when I want to be really condescending. So no..I don't like being called it.
Babe on the other hand is what my bf and I say all the time. I thought it was super weird the first time he said it to me though. I was like "ew no", but then I started using it too lol
We still have nick names though. He calls me Shamu, and I call him Douchebag. Usually in that order.
