Honours Econ
I completed first year commerce and was not eligible to continue on to level 2 commerce due to being unsuccessful in one of the required courses. i am able to switch into honours econ for second year tho. i was wondering if i should pick up a double major (hons econ and poli sci) or just stick with honours econ with a minor in finance. after graduation i was to either continue on to law school or complete my mba.

thank you

Have you looked into the courses for each? See which interests you more and what you can do better in. As far as I know, law school and MBA programs don't give any preferences to any specific program, but they do look at GPA. So base your decision on what program you have a true interest in and what you can excel in .

i can also do a double major in hons econ and poli sci and on top of that minor in finance. but this would require me to be in school..for a much longer time than i planned. which would open more doors for careers more?

These are the kind of questions that an Academic Advisor in the Social Sciences office would be best able to advise you on as they have a wealth of information at their disposal, that we, as students also in the system, have less ready access to. Scheduling an appointment for academic counselling can never hurt

I agree with the post above. No one can give you a concrete answer as to which program is better for you. So it's best to contact a Soc Sci academic advisor. There's drop-in advising available between 1 and 3:30 PM M-F, so I'd definitely go in and talk to them. If not, try to call in to get all your answers.
