Honours Life Science
I have decided to go into H.Life Sci after finishing my first year at McMaster and have a question regarding course selection for second year. I checked the registrar calendar link and it said I have to take 3 units of LIFE SCI 2A03, 9 units from BIOCHEM 2EE3 (or LIFE SCI 2EE3), BIOLOGY 2B03 (or LIFE SCI 2B03), BIOLOGY 2F03 (or LIFE SCI 2F03), LIFE SCI 2C03, 2D03, 2H03. So thats 4 courses + the orgo chems I want to take = 6 courses in total, what about the other four courses? Can I just take courses like Econ 1B03 and first year enviro sci or do I have to take other second year bio courses? Also, can other people let me know what they took during their second year in the Honours Life Sci program.

You can take up to 48 credits of first year courses that will count for your degree for most programs, so yes, you can take Econ 1B03 or Enviro 1A03 as your electives in second year.

Thanks, I am wondering what others that are currently in the Honours Life Science took during their second year or planning to take.

it all depends on what you plan to take in 3rd and 4th year
if you want to take physio courses then u should take Bio 2A03 since it's a prerequisite for a lot upper year physio. Same thing with Bio 2C03 genetics it's a prerequisite for some courses too
So you should also look at upper year courses and choose your courses this year accordingly you dont want to be in a position where u can't take a course u want because u dont have a prerequisite
