Yes, it doesn't matter what faculty you're in. But you need to be an incoming first year student.

Yup! definitely!
There's the Mary E. Keyes Leadership Programme!
There's also CLAY (Creating Leadership Among Youth) which is a leadership conference for students in high school that we hold at Mac.

There's also the IRC (Inter-Residence Council), first years can participate on the council as FLIRCs. They assist with student advocacy and programming. There's also A TON of stuff through the MSU such as SRA, etc. There'll be more articles about leadership activities at Mac throughout the year. And who knows, maybe you can be one of the Skill Builders for Horizons next year!

I was under the impression that CLAY had already happened this summer. I didn't think it went on more than once a summer and I saw them around campus weeks ago.

CLAY only happens once a summer. But we started prepping for it at the end of September. So if an individual were interested in a leadership activity he has something to look forward to.

Hey Everyone!

If you have any more Horizons questions I am on the planning team and will start checking this more regularly. Everyone who sends in their registration will be getting a response, but generally they take some time to be processed. If you do not get a confirmation by the end of July then send an e-mail to [email protected] .ca and Michelle Mah, the conference director can directly check.

I went to the conference in my first year and have been on the planning team the last two years and its amazing. Students of any faculty and age can come as long as they are entering their first year at McMaster. As well, it doesn't matter if you weren't involved in highschool - Horizons is a way to start fresh and change that for university. So sign up, come out and have a blast with your peers and go into welcome week knowing 150 other leaders on campus and being much more comfortable with campus and the opportunities you have!
