Hi, I'm actually on the student committee for planning this course, so I shall explain:
The course uses the Demystifying Medicine seminars, biweekly translational research (basic science --> clinical applications) seminars as the "content".... so in the course you will be put into a group of 5 students and what you do is create "educational offerings" on the seminar (from last year) you are assigned too. For instance say your group has the topic of Asthma. You will watch the seminar on Asthma and create little projects on it in an attempt to make complicated topics understandable to the general public, be it in the form of youtube videos, editorials, etc. You also have to explain to the class the topic and current research. Another component is attending CURRENT DM seminars and essentially doing pre and post seminar discussions. Both professors are great!
Its a brand new course, never been done so you will be a part of something completely new
tl;dr: Take complicated biomedical science topics discussed in Demystifying Medicine seminar, and convert them into something the general public can understand. Attend and discuss upcoming lectures.
