Definitely communal. There are three sinks and four showers (three standalone and one tub/shower) with a curtain to sort of section off the shower area. There are hooks in the shower area where you can hang up your stuff if needed. I'm not sure about the mens' washrooms, but the women's had three or four bathroom stalls. Also, there's two doors into most bathrooms. This is what the washrooms are like for mostly 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor, but I know the ones on first and in the basement differ (I'm pretty sure there are a few single washrooms and showers on first floor).
As for "how the system works", you basically share a bathroom with your wing, which I'd say is about 25 people (but remember, they're not all one gender). During my time in Whidden last year I don't recall ever having to wait for a shower, bathroom stall or sink to use. It's weird to think of the washroom of a social place, but for the girls I know I would always talk to people and you actually meet some, too (again, weird, I know). It's not nearly as bad as it seems

Actually, I don't know if that was a while ago or something. But this past year it was 1 male washroom in one of the wings (yellow on 2nd and 3rd and then orange on 4th), and then 2 female washrooms in the other wings. At some point last year we struck an agreement on 2nd floor about letting the guys use the girl washrooms and vice versa after a certain time.
Also all washrooms have urinals (get used to it Ladies) haha a lot of girls thought that was weird. The washrooms were all the same setup too. 3 stalls, 2 urinals, 4 sinks, 3 showers, 1 bath tub. That's for both guys and girls washrooms. It's actually not as bad it may sound.
ALSO word around last year was that, there will only be 2 wings operating on each floor. Due to them doing renovations one wing at a time. Don't know if that is supposed to be this year or the year after.
Either way enjoy it. By the end of the Whidden Experience, you will have a tight nit group of friends and unforgettable memories!

All beds are normal twins/singles.

Whidden, 229. (:
I'm ridiculously nervous, and there probably won't be another music major in the whole buidling, haha.
Anyone know where 229 is? Or where my roomates are? :( Hahah, i'm struggling to contact them via the res portal, apparently they don't check their e-mails or something?

The substance free floor usually moves from residence to residence every year.

Hey Jessica ,
Your on second floor, in the orange wing if I'm not mistaken (orange wing is on the north side of the building)!! I was 239 last year and I believe there was about 3 or 4 music majors in the res. In terms of your roommates, you sound like you are doing as much as you can to contact them at this point. Everyone is nervous going into University, its a big transition. Just remember that the worrying is mostly in the waiting; once you get onto campus and into welcome week mode, most of your worries will disappear .
Good Luck!
