Importance of Senior thesis?
Hi
I am switching into hon. psych (bsc.) in my 3rd year. I wasn't able to register for the lab classes in feb as I just made my decision and got accepted into the program now.
So according to the degree reqts I must take a lab course in 3rd year in order for me to work on my senior thesis. And I can't take my lab courses until my 4th year.
Thesis is not a reqmnt of the program. And I am wondering how imp it is for me to work on a thesis project in my 4th/5th yr?
Would it be worth it for me to stay back an year to work on the thesis?
And I am planning to go to grad school for masters in psych once I am done with bsc. Does anyone know if grad schools look @ thesis?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks

Hey,
If you're going to grad school for a psych program you'll probably need a thesis. Every single type of psych program I've looked into requires research experience in the form of a thesis. I've looked into clinical, industrial, personality, yada yada which is one of the reasons I decided against a masters in psych lol. Good luck though with your decision making.

Probably a masters in public policy or criminology. They're both one year programs and you just have to write a statement of interest and I think relevant experience which could be anything like a seminar, research course, lab etc. You could maybe go overseas for a masters in psych, from what I've heard some countries don't offer a senior thesis so it wouldn't be a part of their requirements.
