I can send you download links for Office 2011 in PM later if needed. You don't really need an anti virus. For other programs, get a bit torrent client (ex. Utorrent) , iLife 2011 for media/editing (Pm me), VLC, 1Password, Pixelmator, notebook 3.0 (note taking)..

As stated earlier, many threads on mac apps already, search for more info.

Lol...one of the major benefits to having a Mac is the lack of viruses. I think there's only a few possible viruses for Macs, and you don't need any special "anti-virus" software for them.

Well, he's gonna need to get Inventor/MapleSim for 1C03. Or go live in a library for that group project... but when it's something like 3 in the morning and your group still hasn't sent you stuff, it's nicer to have the option of doing it in the comfort of your own bed.

But yes, lolMacs. At least for eng.

Adium = MSN for Mac, the MSN by Microsoft is horrible and does not let you send/receive offline msgs.
Pages/Numbers/Keynote (iWork) are way better than Microsoft office bundle
Notebook by circusponies.com is amazing, its almost like OneNote. I love it, can't live without it.
CandyBar and GeekTools to customize the graphic design look below
FormulatePro is a free PDF editor its amazing and easy to use

This conversion of change in icons/time on desktop etc are by GeekTools and Candy Bar
Sure the OS X has widgets like time/to do/calender/weather etc and thats by pressing the dashboard on your keyboard but I love to have time like this on my desktop.
