Don't bother with TekSavvy here until they get cable. Bell is being noticably shittier this year than in previous years I've noticed, and TekSavvy unfortunately has to go over there shitty unreliable throttled lines.

TekSavvy has just one speed right now (5 Mb/s) which by modern standards is pretty slow.
You get Bell's throttling on top of that, which equals the slowest thing possibly ever.
Wait till they get cable service here.

teksavvy has always been fast enough for us, we have a house of five people and there have been no issues.
it's not as fast as some other services, but our speeds are usually up around the 4-5 mark, where if you pay for 5 with bell you might get 2. plus for a little less speed you get the best download limits around.

teksavvy does have cable. they got in in april. Secondly teksavy gives 5mb down on dsl which for most homes is the maximum limit on the lines. I get 4.5mb down. That is high speed. Teksavvy isn't throttled. And no teksavvy does not have a 5mb limit the cable i believe is 12mb down.
On a second note it took 5 days for me to switch. 3 days until acanac released my subscription so that teksavvy could use the lines, and 2 days to activate. No dsl can activate same day on a dry-loop, if you already have a phone i believe you can activate on same day.

Not in Hamilton. Cogeco is giving them shit, and it keeps getting delayed.

I don't think so. Plenty of people have a >5 Mb/s profile.

Maybe highspeed for 2003. And you're probably just lucky enough to live in an area where Bell doesn't do throttling. They used to move it around (1 month I'd be throttled, next I wouldn't), but they appear to have pretty much locked it in as of the past few months. That, or you don't use P2P programs or torrents.

Sitting on hold for >30 minutes trying to get through to a TekSavvy rep wasn't enjoyable and definitely added conviction to my going with Cogeco.

Yeah thats not cool. But one of the things I've heard is that although you wait a while (small company so its understandable in a sense), once you talk with a rep and have a really technical problem they are able to help you. They know their stuff. Whereas with Cogeco you got some person reading a script or something and get forwarded to different departments etc. Anyways thats what I've read (dslreports.com) and heard.

I'm really interested to hear the politics/goings on with how Cogeco is giving teksavvy shit, or else just why teksavvy is being delayed for so long :( They were supposed to be here by the end of the summer. Now, on the phone, they've told me they're having troubles with the legal stuff, so it might be another couple of months.
To Cogeco: Get ready to FALL HARD. I'm sorry, but you can't survive in an area while charging twice as much. There is nothing REMOTELY comparable to 10Mbps, 200GB cap, at $42/mth

most older neighbours/small town have a 5mb limit in them. It is not a software thing it is a hardware thing.
