Intramural Soccer!
Hey guys!
I'm going to be a first year starting in September, and I really want to join a corec intramural soccer team. Either division A or B. I just want to know if I have to find a preexisting team to join, if I have to come up with my own, or when I register, do they just place me somewhere that needs a player? If I have to find a preexisting team, is there anyone on here that's going to be looking for players come September?! I know this is probably a little bit early to be asking about this... lol
Thanks!

You have to make or join a team and then sign that team up.

Actually, if you don't have a team you can sign up to be a free agent, and then if a team won't have the required number of players that week they can get you to fill in. I don't know how often that would have you playing though.

Usually when my friends make a team and they are down a player I just fill in and I didn't sign up to be a free agent. I don't even know if that works because teams usually have to notify in advance if they are going to be missing a player right? Last year there were games where teams just didn't have the required number of players.

Yeah, I know that happened a few times with the team I was on last year. I'm pretty sure that it's technically against the rules. With regards to a team playing with too few players, it's up to the discretion of the team they're playing against whether to force a forfeit or let them play.

The free agent system now is all based on Facebook. So you just find the appropriate discussion board and start talking to people who are just like you, without a team and hoping to get one together.
As for missing players, with floorball anyway, the refs were very lenient and just let whoever was there play to have an even game going.

Thanks for the responses! I'm hoping I can find a team looking for a full time extra player instead of being a free agent. Or I'll just have to bug a whole bunch of people into making a team lol

I'd be interested. I'm not all that great, just playing women's league, but I love soccer!

Soc Sci has a team! you prolly should ask your reps during welcome week on faculty day...they'll know. Oh and the Soc sci team is really good. They beat us (Chem eng) in the finals last year :(
