Joingin MMT (McMaster Musical Theatre), help!
I'm entering first year this September, and I REALLY wanna join McMaster Musical Theatre. Thing is, I don't know if it's a good idea to miss that many classes, I'm in Life Sciences and I wanna know if it's a bad idea to join. Time management isn't a problem for me (I've been doing musicals throughout high school) but I'm concerned that my GPA may fall and I don't want it to damage my grades.

Are there ANY upper years out there who've done MMT (Or anyone who knows someone who has odne it) who can tell me if it's really hard to get back on track?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

If time management isn't an issue for you, then joining one or more groups/clubs/associations/etc. shouldn't be a problem.

I found first-year at Mac to be the easiest of all the years, to be honest. Very general courses for the most part. Not sure what faculty you're in, Taha, but if there is any year to try new things and to try out MMT.. it would be in first-year

Why don't you email the MMT execs and ask them about what kind of time commitment is required? Clubs are usually, if not always, understanding with academic, because school does come first, for all of us.

In terms of how much time you have to commit:
I believe, from what I've read, that rehearsals are once a week on Sundays, 10am-5pm. Then there's tech week during reading week, where you're doing 12 hour rehearsals (10am-10pm) every day. The show is around late March, I think. It could be different this year, I'm not sure, but this is what I've heard from other upper years

I'm not sure when the rehearsals are or anything like that, but tech week does take up like ALL of your reading week, i have at least a handful of friends that are involved with running MMT and being in the show. It's definitely possible to do both if you can manage the time and keep yourself on track or even if you fall behind a bit I'm sure it's possible to catch back up.
