So the fact that we pay them a buttload of money isn't good enough for them... interesting how McMaster treats its graduates.

They are providing you with education and services for that buttload of money.

How can you expect them to provide lifelong email services to everyone? You realize how ridiculous that is?

Good to know there is an option to keep the email though address though, could be useful.

I pay a buttload of money for a sub-par education wherein the solution almost always is: read the textbook and regurgitate the tutorial problems I provide you with.

I have left classes literally knowing nothing and getting a good grade. It's shameful. The least they could do is provide graduates with an email, for free, for the first few years after they graduate. Having a McMaster email when applying to jobs and starting one's career looks better than using a Gmail/ISP/whatever email.

I wonder what the rationale for it is. When I co-started the Google Email project in 09 that led to the shift over from an old in house 5MB Email system, a big draw was the possibility of unlimited Alumni Emails. As it states here https://support.google.com/a/answer/139019?hl=en there is no limit from Google's end on how many accounts a University creates.

The Gmail service itself is provided for free to McMaster, I wonder if the $110 is a cost recovery for UTS to maintain the authentication services (McAuth) or whether Google Apps for Education was only meant for current students and it's Google that charges for any additional account..

Either ways, as I've stated countless times on MI posts complaining about random issues; it doesn't hurt or cost to send an email or two and see where that leads.

Maybe email David Campbell [email protected] r.ca to see whether the $110 is a needless charge and if something can be done about it?

I'm also wondering if that form hasn't been updated since the old MUSS days. OP may want to email uts just to see. It could also be a restriction placed on by Google like you said.

$110 ANNUAL FEE?!? I guess I'll have to start putting darkmage666 [at] hotmail [dot] com on my resume again after graduation. Can job recruiter responses go in the negatives?

Yes, they can. Your response rate can go so bad that you begin to hire job recruiters instead of otherwise, resembling the state of employment in Soviet Russia.

Or alternatively like many other people you can create a more neutral e-mail account to put on your resume.
