Kinesiology 1A03/1Y03
Okie dokie, I'm a first year Kinesiology student, and I'm forced to take this course, and it is the best course that I've ever been forced to take. No question.
You start with Dr. Parise, who is far and away my favorite prof I've had this semester. You start with embryology and...

I chose it as an elective and it is not a smart move to make. Weekly quiz is a pain and packing all these anatomical terms in your head for the 50% worth exam is not fun. Other than that, it is a pretty interesting course.

Nope, just a pre-lab quiz and attendance taken in order to get your mark for the pre-lab quiz(2% each, 5 in total).

I never took exercise science in high school
Currently im choosing bio 1a03, chem 1a03, psych 1x03, and math 1a03 for 1st semester
I have room for 1 more course, but unfortunately kin is only taking place 1st semester
So do u think I can handle kin with all those courses, even though I never took exc sci?

Your workload is pretty standard for all first years and Kin is an amazing course. I highly recommend it. I enjoyed it a lot more compared to first year bio. Also, you don't need exercise science, it's not exacly the same material. I never took Exc Sci and I wasn't at a disadvantage or anything.

parises the best! macdonald on the other hand...
be on top of notes, print them out ahead of time when they are up. sometimes they are late but will post them the morning of the class. goign to class without notes are horrible because there is so much content in each class
dont forget iclickers theyre easy marks
study lots for the weekly quizzes, they require you to really know your stuff. dont forget to study the lab book too because there is usually one question at the end on the weeks lab.
labs are awesome, except term two labs suck for the majority. pay attention though! the images are on the exam.

Be ready to work buddie... that is one workloaded schedule. Id recommend taking math 1ls3 if possible, theyre equivalent and 1ls3 will help lighten you load because youve got tough courses.
ex science is more for kin courses and anatomy so chem/bio should be fine without the knowledge from ex sci. however without ex sci you will still be ok because the profs are good and will teach you almost all new material. the only thing that ex sci really helped out with was the muscle section, bones, and sliding filament theory. it might seem intimidating to memorize all of the new weird names of the muscles and bones but put in the work and you'll get the hang of it.
chem is generally tough, bio is a lot of memorizing... but no where compared to anatomy's memorizing. so manage your time well, review a lot, keep on top of things, don't miss class.

I never took exercise science either, and that was pretty much my first semester. It was definitely doable. 1Y03 isn't much work.

You don't need exercise science at all. I never took it, and Kin 1Y03 was just fine. It's not a pre-req for it so you'll be fine without it. Just put in enough work during the term and do your best .

Exercise Science in high school is an introduction to multiple aspects of Kinesiology, so there's only a small section on anatomy. As others have said, the profs don't expect you to have any previous knowledge. I think it's a great course and highly recommend it.

What is the difference in using the 8th edition textbook versus the new (9th edition)?
