Kinesiology Courses
Hey, I'm going into the Kinesiology program this fall, so i was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on what courses i should take for electives. Just as a side note I'm hoping to eventually go into physiotherapy..even though that's a long way off
Also, between Math 1L3S and 1A03, which one would be more suitable and would anyone recommend taking physics? I did take it in gr 12, so I dunt know if it's any help with biomechanics or not
Any recommends would help, thanks

I am going into 2nd year Kin, and I recommend taking MATH 1LS3, unless you're very strong in math you can take 1A03. If you need textbooks, I am selling mine, it's way cheaper than buying brand new ones!

I have textbooks as well!!
I'd recommend taking Biology 1A03 - I found the information a good continuation on what I learned in grade 12 and a small portion overlapped with Anatomy & Physiology.
In terms of math I'd definitely take 1LS3 over 1A03 - I found 1LS3 tough enough, but I'm not very strong in math in the first place.

hey I'm also going into my 2nd year of kin!
I'd also recommend math 1LS3 because unless you plan on taking math in upper years Math 1A03 is useless. Also, Math 1LS3 is much easier
I would also recommend Bio 1A03 because it is fairly easy and just a review of grade 12. I would also suggest taking Bio 1A03 first term beacuse the profs are much easier.
If you like chemistry, Chem 1A03 and 1AA3 aren't that bad either.
If you have any more questions feel free to msg me
and if you also need textbooks, mine are all in mint condition with NO highlighting.

Physics 1L03 is highly recommended before taking Biomechanics, particularly if you haven't taken high school physics.
Math 1LS3 vs. Math 1A03 really depends on how much you like math. If you don't take 1LS3. Don't worry there is a sequel to it, equivalent to Math 1AA3 called Math 1LT3, if you're worried about one day wanting to take higher level calc courses.
Bio 1A03 was really boring for me and that made it hard. It was mostly review with enough new that you had to study.
Taking Chem 1A03 right now over the summer and I'm lovin' it. Labs are a whole heck of a lot more fun than bio labs and I find it an easier subject.
Take what you like though. Seriously, you have electives to give you breadth. Take another language, take some philosophy or religious studies, whatever floats your boat.

Textbooks can range from like 40 to 150 bucks. I think science books tend to range from 80-150, but someone can correct me on this if I'm wrong. :] The most expensive book I've ever bought was 110 dollars or so.

iirc, the anatomy/physiology textbook was $160...I think that was my most expensive one in first-year though. The most expensive one I've ever bought was $180...so ridiculous that I split the cost with someone and we shared the book

I'd recommend taking 1LS3 vs. 1A03 for math, because it is easier. Both bios are relatively easy, and as mentioned above, are similar to grade 12, just with a bit more detail. Psych courses also count as science credits towards your degree. If I remember correctly, you need 12 science units before you graduate. Both Econs are also relatively easy, but I'd recommend saving the 'bird' courses for upper years when your grades really count. Hope this helps.
p.s. I've got books and tests from first year if you're interested.

You get your course syllabus on the first day for each class. That happens for every course. They'll either tell you to get a textbook, custom courseware, or if the material is directly form lecture.

Booklists are usually posted on the Titles website under 'course materials' in the beginning of August. It's usually best to wait til the first class though, since the required books can change and some books that say 'required' on the website are actually optional. The prof will tell you exactly what you need in the first class, but the booklists on the Titles website can give you a good idea of how much money it will cost
