Speaking of messed up details, this reminds me of a funny story back when I was looking for a house in February with my friends. We found this one house on the housing website, and when we went and visited it, it was awesome; and pretty cheap. We called back later prepared to sign for it, and the land lord said that the house actually wasn't for rent.
How the hell do you accidentally put up an ad and provide a tour for a house you aren't even going to rent? lol

Lol, that's hilarious. Maybe someone signed before you guys?

We asked if that's what it was, but the land lord said it just wasn't for rent, and whoever gave us the tour must have been confused. Very odd.

For me, a lot of things are wrong with a 12-month lease. First of all, we all know how hard it is to sublet in the summer. With most student only in school for the 8 months.
This is my last year at Mac. I'm finished in April.
& i'll be travelling back to my hometown in Italy from May-August.

: ) At least you're not stuck with a crappy scumlord.
It sucks that you wasted your time, though.

I e-mailed her on my way back home. She e-mailed me back saying she's sorry about the confusion, and that she went back and read our e-mail conversations and saw I was very clear about only wanting 8 months in each e-mail.
ugh !

I would keep on looking around, I wouldn't want a landlord that forgets or is trying to be sneaky.

Oh My God. That's terrible! But it's best not to ask her about it again, so she doesn't end up being your landlord :( even if she'll allow 8 months:(.

I would tell the OCRC (off-campus resource center; i.e. the people who have the site set up) about the issue you had with the landlord. That way they can tell you a) if they have heard bad things about your landlord or b) help other students not end up getting screwed during the school year.
I had asked them about a previous landlord I had, and it turned out that lots of other students had issues with him...which is always something good to know.
