Learnlink on Mac !! >_<
Hello everybody!!

Can someone help me with using (or at least STARTING) Learnlink on an Apple laptop?!
I switched from Windows to Macintosh and I am totally confused. I am able to login to Learnlink on my Windows desktop computer, but not so much on my Apple laptop. A popup always appears saying "Sorry, there's no First Class server with that name on the network. Check your connection setup."

HELP!

Learnlink is a program that mostly Science uses; it's similar to WebCT from what I understand.

Try downloading the MAC version of the LearnLink client:
http://www.learnlink.mcmaste r.ca/downloads.html

If you can't get it to work I would suggest you contact UTS for tech support with your Apple computer to try and get Learnlink working.

Learnlink and WEBCT are both learning systems that professors can use to post up lecture notes, quizzes, test scores, discussion boards for your class, etc.

It is up to the professor to use it... some prefer WebCT, some Learnlink, others use similar services like Moodle (moodle.org).

You won't know which your prof is using, or if they are using any at all, until your first day of class. So until then... wait until classes start and ask your prof

LearnLink you download a client/program from http://learnlink.mcmaster.ca

WebCT you login to online via the web (no need to download) at http://webct.mcmaster.ca

There is also the online browser version of learnlink

https://www.learnlink.mcmaste r.ca/login/

The downloadable application is pretty crappy. It takes a long time to load, has a very confusing and counter-intuitive interface, takes up wayyy more memory than it's worth, and keeps crashing before giving a bogus message "you are out of time". I always used the browser version.
