The course load for practically everyone in Life Sci I is the same, so don't worry :p

If you are planning on medical school for the future (like 90% of first year Life Sci's, haha) then you may want to consider continuing with physics. Some medical schools require a full year of physics and will not accept Physics 1L03 because it doesn't have a lab component. Physics 1B03 does, however. Furthermore neither Physics 1L03 or Physics 1B03 cover all the physics material that is on the MCAT so Physics 1BB3 or 1BA3 may be advisable. Some people do opt to just teach themselves physics matieral for the MCAT by themselves, but it can be tricky.

If you don't care about medical school, don't worry about that junk though! However, some programs out of first year Life Sci do require completion of Physics 1B03 by the end of second year. As for electives.. well.. I skipped Physics 1L03 and did Physics 1B03, then took Physics 1BA3 is an elective. Not easy :p However I did take Astronomy 1F03 which was a great course. Interesting matieral, easy quizzes and tests. I'd highly recommend it.

PS- I'm pretty sure Life Sci I recquires Psych 1X03 at the very least (9 units of Bio 1A03, Bio 1M03, Psych 1X03 and Psych 1XX3 if I'm not mistaken...) Pysch is a great course to take. It's done all online for the first semester (or it was last year anyways, the course is always changing and evolving) with just one tutorial a week. It isn't the easiest, but its very interesting material (I found, anyways).

Is there a reason you are only planning on taking 8 courses? A full course load in first year requires 10 courses.

you need a total of 30 units, so you need more than just one course!

If you've taken gr12 physics, then I'd recommend phys1B03 instead of 1L03, since you'll likely end up having to take 1B03 in second year anyways (most programs require it), so you might as well get it out of the way now. If you haven't taken gr12 physics, then you can take 1L03 first term and 1B03 second term, so you can still get it out of the way before second year.

Psych 1X03 is also required for Life Sci. The requirements are here: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1490.html
I think Psych 1X03 is the only one you're missing, though.

The rest of your courses can be any electives you want. Just make sure you have a total of 30 units for the year (usually 15 units per term). The number of units a course is is the last number in the course code--1A03 would be three units (and one term), while 1A06 would be six units (and likely be a full-year course).
