Life Science Help/Opinion
hi,looking at the level 2 options, I am interested in Honours Biochemistry,Honours Biology and Psychlogy,Honours,Lif e sciences and Honours Psychology and Neuroscience. So i choose the following level 1 courses

Bio 1A03
Bio 1M03
Psych 1X03
Psych 1XX3
Physics 1B03
Chem 1A03
Chem 1AA3
Math 1LS3
KINESIOL 1Y03
envirsci or some other easy elective(any recommendations?)
Is my course selection spot on?
I'm still confused about Math 1LS3 vs 1A03 though

Also For grad school(i.e med/pharmacy) are both math good enough or would i need to take a higher level math later on.
Thanks for the help

Looks good. Fairly typical for first year Life Sci, and you'll fulfill all the requirements for the programs you're considering.

1LS3 is generally considered easier than 1A03. Both should be fine for any schools that require calculus, although requirements are generally a full year (eg. 2 courses) from what I've seen so you may need to take another calculus course (1LT3 or 1AA3) in the future. Check out any specific schools you're considering for that information. Med schools in Ontario don't require math, not sure about pharmacy though.

As for electives, take what you think you'll enjoy. There are tons of threads about easy electives, but take everything with a grain of salt because if you don't like a course, it's hard to do well in it.

Med or pharmacy schools aren't grad schools.

Pharmacy requires a full year of calc.

I've been looking, too, and most med schools in Ontario need 2 social sci courses. I'm choosing either econ 1b03 and 1bb3 or health and age 1aa3 and 1bb3. I've been looking at the profs and the profs for econ seem much easier

I took Kin 1Y03 and 1YY3 in the past school year, and my opinion is that it's just a lot of work. Lots of memorization, but definitely not hard. The weekly tests were sometimes annoying (especially when you have other midterms on Fridays) but helped to get you studying, and prevents cramming before the exams. Tests and exams were fair and it's definitely possible to do well if you study enough. Labs were fairly relaxing since it's led by the TAs. I would say Organic Chemistry is harder than Kin, if that helps any.

Would you recommend taking Kin 1Y03 and 1YY3 instead of econ 1b03 and 1bb3 for honours life sci or honours bio?

I've never taken the Econs so I can't comment from personal experience. However, my roommate took it, and it seemed to be pretty easy courses that boosted her GPA. Kin is not required for either Honours Life Sci or Bio, although it could be helpful for Bio 2A03 (Animal Physiology). I did enjoy the labs though, Kin 1Y/1YY were my only first year life science courses that had dissection (e.g. sheep brain, pig heart and lungs).

Are you interested in either economics or anatomy? Personally, I would go with interest than easiness in first year. If it's interesting, it's never hard to study for it.

Don't get your hopes up, 1Y03 is a really popular course and you may not get a seat.

I'm interested in both subjects (anatomy a bit more), but the work load may be too much. Do you have to take both Kin courses or can you take 1 kin in term one and econ in term 2? Also, I wish to go to med school or vet college and the prerequisite for most of them says that you need 2 social sci courses (I believe econ is social sci).

You can take just 1Y03, but 1Y03 is a prereq for 1YY3.
They're really not a lot of work, super chill electives.

Econ 1B03 is an easy 12. Kin 1Y03 requires a lot more work compared to econ in order to achieve a 12.

Chem 1A03 does, but bio 1A03 does not have to be taken before 1M03. Check the course calendar or timetable if you're not sure, it has this kind of information.
