A lot of the scholarships and bursories given are based on financial need, or given to people who randomly fall into a minority (culture, child of some random type of worker, etc).

Scroll down and view the scholarships for each faculty. You can also see which scholarships require applications.
thanks! and from this link, aren't there still plenty of awards which don't required applications? or most of them are really hard to get (gpa 11+)?

and what about the academic grants? it doesn't say much about them except a description and amount. No applications needed or something?

How do they determine financial need? Something tells me that International students are not on their priority list...

(I didn't even get an entrance scholarship, despite my excellent High School GPA)

I am not absolutely certain, but I imagine that for most of them, you'd need a high average (11+). You might end up getting the Senate scholarship ($800). My CA in first year was similar to yours (10.6), and I received it. I believe that for the Senate scholarships there is a cutoff CA for each faculty, and the students above that cutoff receive the scholarship.

As for the grants, it should say on that website whether an application is required or not.

You'll most likely require ~11 for science. I believe one scholarship had a 10.9 cutoff, and another had an 11.4.
