I think corktown was doing some live jazz on wednesday nights. Not sure if thats still going on. Also keep an eye on http://www.hamiltonallstarja zz.org/ They have events all year. Three great jazz bands, a jazz vocal group and some other stuff too. They are located a short bus ride up wilson street and sometimes have coffee houses at their pad the old Ancaster Fire Hall.
