So true. No matter how many Indian restaurants I've been to, it just never tastes as good as when I go visit friends .. :(

to enjoy real indian food, you need to visit an indian family.

I think I convince my mom to sell her food but it's gonna cost some serious $$. And no, she will not accept meal cards.

I've been most of the Indian restaurants around town. Here's my two cents:
1) Shehnai -- probably the most decent Indian you can get in Hamilton. (the really good places are up in Brampton and Mississauga). A bit pricey for what you're getting, but that's how it is.
2) Gate of India -- James St. N. Fairly decent, and quite pricey.
3) Modern India Buffet - it used to be quite good (for mass produced food) when it was in the Walnut location. Since they moved to the new Caroline and Main location, they've downscaled their menu, and the food is now just barely passable.
4) Indian Garden -- Main St W. Horrible Indian food. Don't go there if you care about authenticity.
5) Mahal -- downtown Hamilton, near Jackson square. I have a suspicion that the owners aren't Indian -- most of the staff there are middle eastern. This is actually not a bad thing if you like northern Indian cuisine, because a lot of the dishes actually originated from Persia. They were brought to India by the Mughals (who ruled a large part of the Indian subcontinent). I've eaten there, and while the food there is nothing to shout about, it is decent. The buffet tends to have a limited selection, so I would often order a la carte.

You stupid ****ing retard, why would ANYBODY assume that you're not from Canada? Because you're almost completely illiterate? Nah, we have plenty those in this country; you're not special. Because you're a prospective student hoping to attend a Canadian university where international students are just a small portion of the entire student population? Oh wait. Because your profile states where you're from? OH WAIT.
Seriously, go to Waterloo.
Please, don't ****ing comment on another poster's intelligence quotient. I'm embarrassed for you.
