Long question.. please read!
I've emailed the Associate Dean of Science but my question was not addressed..

In the fall, I am going into my first year of the life sciences program. Because I have not taken gr. 12 physics, I need to take PHYSICS 1L03 before taking PHYSICS 1B03. However, I would like to take FRENCH 1A06, which is a two term course, as my elective. I only have space in my timetable right now for a one term course. I need PHYSICS 1B03 for the second year program that I am planning to apply for in second semester of year one.

My question is: can I say that I am going to take PHYSICS 1B03 during the summer and still apply for the second year program which requires me to have taken PHYSICS 1B03? (Since, by the time I am applying I would not have taken PHYSICS 1B03, but by the time I am in second year, I would have taken PHYSICS 1B03) This way, I can take FRENCH 1A06 as my elective.

Also, does anyone know if the psychlogy course (specifically PSYCH 1X03 and PSYCH 1XX3) at McMaster count as social science or science courses?

Thanks!

Psych counts as a science course at McMaster

in terms of the B03 issue- depending on the program, for some you can leave B03 to take for later (i.e. for Physiology for instance is says: It is strongly recommended that PHYSICS 1B03 be completed in Level I. Students who have not completed this course will be considered for admission, however, these units must be replaced with a course selected from the Life Sciences I Course List. PHYSICS 1B03 must be completed by the end of Level II. Completion of PHYSICS 1BB3 is also recommended") so you would need to take make sure you have enough life sci courses to subsidize

Yes you can take Phys 1L03 during the year and apply to your program in March. And once you receive your offer, it'll be conditional upon completion of your Phys 1B03 in the summer as long as they see you're registered for it, you're good. Also, Psych at McMaster is considered Science-related as far as I know. However, you can also be registered in an Hons Psych BA (Soc Sci)

Yes you can take it in the summer. If you fail that course in the summer, you will get rejected to that second year program

The psychology courses will count as science courses
