Looking to form a String Quartet or Quintet
I'm a violinist, and I'm looking for another violinist, a violist, and a cellist to form a string quartet. We'd most likely meet just once a week on a weekday, maybe in a larger practice room somewhere. (We do have those, right?) So, anyone here want in? Post a description of your experience in both solo and ensemble, and an email, if you're interested. Of course, I'm going to ask around in the music department, but I thought I'd try here first.

For level of proficiency, one piece that I'd like to play if I find the people for it is Shostakovich's String Quartet no. 8: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjvTTfbpWjY . Maybe also some Death and the Maiden. If this seems totally out of reach for you...well, yeah.

Oh, and I CALL DIBS ON FIRST VIOLIN. For that piece, anyways. I played second when we did Shostakovich in my old quartet, and I'd like something different.

I'm also open to forming a string quintet (quartet + piano), if people are interested in that. Always wanted to play Schubert's Trout Quintet. :)

No point in doing it if it's not something that'll be a lot of fun, eh? :P I already have another violinist and a cellist. I have my eye on a violist, and just need to talk to her. And we already have a gig! YAYmoney.
