Looking for a part-time job?
Hey everyone,

Just wanted to let you all know: If you're looking for a part time job, the McMaster University Phone Program is hiring student callers. Basically what you'd be doing is calling McMaster alumni and convincing them to give back to the university for scholarships and bursaries. Pay is $10 an hour, and you only need to commit to 7 hours (two shifts) per week. Shifts run from Monday - Thursday 6 PM - 9:30 PM, Saturday 12:00 PM - 3:30 PM & Sunday 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM. If you're really talkative and convincing, this job is probably really good for you.

If you want to apply, shoot me an email at carreia/at/mcmaster.ca or reply in this thread if you have any questions.

Thanks,

-Andrew

Wow, this is awesome. This is pretty much what I've been looking for. :O I'll assume you give proper training, yes? Is it paid training?

How much experience is needed, if any?

Training is generally 2-3 shifts, and is paid!

You won't need to have prior fundraising or phone experience as it isn't that easy to come by. We just want outgoing and talkative grad or undergrad students.

Ugh. I have a job right now involving using phones. It's not fun, although I imagine most alumni will be nice.

Oh, thought of another question (or two =P)

Can you disclose to us where training would take place? Could we get there by bus?

Would we be working from home or in an office? Again, is it accessible by bus?

Thanks.

It's a lot better than most phone jobs, or so I've heard from people who came from places like Protocol.

The training will take place in a secret underground lair somewhere in northern Ontario.
Just kidding -- training happens in the same place where we work: the McMaster Downtown Centre (50 Main St E). It's one bus from campus (51, 10, 5C, 1A).

As an alumni... grr. I graduated in June and I already got my first call asking me for money. Why not bug some of the well established alumni and leave me alone.

Yeah, you'd think they'd have a record of when people graduated and not call recent graduates who probably still have student loans to pay back and may still be looking for work, especially in this time.
