am i full time or part time?????
Hey,

I'm taking 18 units for fall/winter 09/10. I received the bus pass sticker for my student card because 18 units means full time for the bus pass. However, when I go into the MUGSI "program and course summary" page it says I'm part time for the academic load status. Is that correct or should it say full time? Thanks!

This is taken from the undergrad calendar.

"A full time student for academic purposes is an undergraduate student who is registered in at least 24 units in the Fall/Winter session, including Extra Courses. Full-time status for students in the Faculty of Science Co-op programs is granted to those students registered in at least 12 units in Term 1 or Term 2 of the Fall/Winter session. "

I think it's 18 units for MSU full-time status, but 24 units for McMaster full-time status.

Jesus is correct and since the HSR pass is a service by the MSU, you only need 18units in order to receive the HSR pass.

Hmm... I see why there's a discrepancy between the two now, probably to let more students in on things like this, like the HSR bus pass. Sorry, there was another thread that talked about why the MSU and McMaster had different amounts of units that were considered full-time and no one really knew why. :]

Sigh, this came up before. really confusing I know. But by MSU standards, you're full time. By Mac standards, you're not until you have 24 units. So "officially" you're part-time, but you still get the HSR pass and other perks that the MSU provides for full-time students (since you're taking 18 units)

a full time student has 24 units in a full school year. you can have 15 units first term and 9 units in the second or any other way.. but 24 units= full time student. also 30 units are the maximum one can have in a school yr

You also need an academic requirement. I think it's a 7.0 SA.
