Originally I thought it was 30, but I believe 24 units qualifies you as a full-time student.

Yep 24. But I believe to be considered for scholarships, and for your scholarship to be renewed its 30 units.
Anyone can confirm this?

You're incorrect.
According to the MSU its 21 or more units. For OSAP its a 60% of a full course load.

[email protected] lorend, that's odd, because the calendar has always said 24 units is the break point between part time & full time. If that is true (that the MSU says it's 21), then that's strange that they have two different definitions.

The university will not consider you to be full time unless you have 24 units. The MSU however, like Lorend mentioned has a different number.

I thought MSU was 18 actually. Why do they differ from the university? I assume that the university's number is more, erm, important than the MSU as a whole.

I'm part time, and I can only take a max of 18 units. When I spoke to the office of the Registrar about it, they said anything more than that would be considered full time.

I pulled this out of the undergraduate calendar for my faculty:
" A part-time student in Business I is permitted to take a maximum of 21 units in any Fall/Winter session."
To me that sounds that 24 units = full time which is what I have always believed to be true.

I think that makes more sense.. Although the numbers should definitely be unified.. and 24 makes more sense since both terms would be even in terms of workload
Hmm, maybe it's by faculty then =S?

" Full-time Student For academic purposes is an undergraduate student who is registered in at least 24 units in the Fall/Winter session, including Extra Courses. Full-time status for students in the Faculty of Science and Engineering Co-op programs is granted to those students registered in at least 12 units in Term 1 or Term 2 of the Fall/Winter session."
http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg2009.html
I guess it is somewhat dependent on what program you're in, with the exception of the co-op program mentioned. It says academic purposes, meaning that full-time can be considered something else under other circumstances.

It's probably talking about the MSU Full Time Student definition.
