Looking for South Asian Study Participants [Free BOD POD Testing]
Hello,

I had posted a couple months ago about a research study I am doing regarding testing the accuracy of BOD POD in the South Asian population.
http://www.macinsiders.com/showthrea...5.html?t=57525

If you were unable to participate during the school term, then here is another chance to do so during the summer.

In order to get a more representative sample, we are doing some additional recruitment and require 17 more South Asian participants (originating from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh) with a BMI less than or equal to 21 kg/m2 (calculated as weight (in kg) divided by the square of height (in m)). If you have a BMI</=21 and are interested in participating, please let me know.

You can compute your BMI using the calculator on this link (you will need to enter your weight and height):
http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Here are some more details about the study:

Why is this study important?
In Canada, it appears that people of different ethnic origins have different risk factors for type-2 diabetes and heart disease. Specifically, while overweight and obese Canadians of European origin are at high risk for both diabetes and heart disease, Canadians who originate from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or Pakistan are at an even higher risk for these conditions. Discovering accurate techniques to determine percent body fat in this high risk population will help us in our future research studies.

Benefits to you:
If you agree to participate in this study, you will receive FREE personalized percent body fat results measured by BOD POD (which usually costs $50 - $60 at other places). I have attached a sample test report so that you can get a better idea of what information you can get from this test.

Your Commitment:
You will need to make a short 25 minute visit for the testing to our clinic in Hamilton General Hospital during the months of May or June 2012. The scheduling is very flexible and we will try our best to accommodate your schedule. We will also cover your parking expenses or provide you with HSR bus tickets. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected] .com or PM me.

If you can spread the word to any of your South Asian friends/relatives, I would greatly appreciate that as well.

Thank you!

I am still looking for more South Asian participants with a BMI less than or equal to 21. If you think you meet this criteria and are interested in participating, please let me know. Again, the scheduling is very flexible and I will try my best to accommodate your schedule.
Thanks for your help!
