MI Chat has come a long way since we launched it last month. We're currently seeing an average of 2,500 visits a day with 1,800 of those being unique student visitors. That's a lot of chatting! Thanks to all the members using the chat and we hope you're enjoying meeting new people and discussing with others in the MI Community.
A few suggestions from heavy chat users have been coming in and we're taking all your feedback to help improve the chat service. A few things that have come to our attention include:
- Guest account abuse (trolling)
- Chat lag when the 'chat line deletion' feature is used
We've decided to turn off guest chatting for now and make chatting member-only. Therefore, you'll need to be logged into your MacInsiders Account prior to loading up the chatroom to be automatically logged in. After all, it's a chat for MI Community members, so let's keep it that way.
Guests will still be able to view the chatroom and follow discussions, but won't be able to write any chat messages. Being a spectator is fun, but of course being a member and participating in the chat is even more fun!
Also, the line-by-line deletion feature has been disabled due to chat lag when it is used.
