MATH 1A03 or MATH 1M03? THIS COMMIE NEEDS HELP!
HEY HEY HEY GUYS!
I am a first year student going into Business I.

I recently got back from Mission2Mac in my city; after talking with a current Commerce student, I am debating which first year math course I should take.

I am currently enrolled in MATH 1M03.
After discussion, I was informed that MATH 1A03 is theoretical, whereas MATH 1M03 is more practical.

I was advised to switch to MATH 1A03 because the person told me it was "easier".
They also said that MATH 1A03 is similar to high-school calculus, whereas MATH 1M03 has several new things to learn.

In high school I took MHF4U, MCV4U, & MDM4U so I only need 1 math course first year.

When it comes to MCV4U, I am VERY weak with "Vectors".

I am hoping to specialize in Accounting in third year, I don't particularly hope to take any "complicated" or "sciencey" mathematics courses in later years.

Should I keep MATH 1M03 or switch to MATH 1A03?
I am interested in the course with the least (or no) involvement in "vectors".

I understand that MATH 1A03 has integration.. could someone possibly explain what that is?

I would appreciate any ADVICE and a possible comparison on each math course's level of difficulty and content.

For the record, I took 1M03 in first year.

Second, I have to question this. Getting a B- or higher in 1M03 is considered the equivalent of a 1A03 credit.

Course descriptions recommend 1A03 if you're planning on taking upper year math courses.

Yeah, I was confused about that part too.. that's why I'm seeking more information.

I've taken both.

1M03 is easier. Take 1M03 if you're not planning on doing something with math (aka a minor)

There is a lot of overlap between 1a03 and 1m03 and to say that 1a03 is similar to high school calc and 1m03 isn't is wrong.

The real difference is the last few units, which I found hard in 1a03.

1m03 and 1a03 both have integration. There's no escaping it.

Integration is basically the opposite of differentiation. Instead of going from function --> derivative, you go backwards (i.e. from function --> antiderivative).

when i was at mac for course registation i was told that if you get a 70% in 1M03 you can take upper year math courses, so you can still have math as a minor. Which is what i'm thinking of doing.
I'm in first year business too, and i'm taking 1M03 as of now. Could anyone tell me what are the units in 1M03 about that are not studied in high school? Like what's the later stuff?
