I'm planning on taking Math 1LS3 because I'm not going into the Physical Sciences program.

But, is Math 1A03 a pre-requisite for any Chem upper year courses?

Browse through this, and see if there are any chem courses that require math. So far, Math 1a03 isn't required for any upper year chem courses. Except for chem 2pc3, which is similar to math 1b03.

Some of the upper chem courses that are more math intensive (eg 3pa3) will assume you know math from 1A03, 1AA3 and 1B03 (or chem 2pc3).

If you are thinking about like organic or inorganic chem, as long as you can count carbons/electrons you'll be fine with just 1LS3.

Didn't want to make a new thread about it but are there any theoretical(mathemati cal) chemistry courses?

Yep, chem 3PA3 (quantum chemistry) and 4PB3 (computational models).

Check the undergraduate calendar, here:
http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calen...12/pg1764.html

Chem 3PA3/3PB3 may be?
4IC3 perhaps?

Not sure how much physics/math is covered in these courses. They sound interesting though. May be someone from chem can elaborate.

Thanks for suggestions. Quantum chemistry sounds cool. I like theoretical physical chemistry courses like thermodynamics , gas kinetics, etc .but without any labs. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you're into materials science. Check out what they have over at Materials Eng:
http://mse.mcmaster.ca/undergraduate/courses.php

You could probably get the prereqs waived. For instance, I've had a few friends from Faculty of Science get waivers/permission from instructor to take Eng Phys courses.

Differential says thanks to macsci for this post.
