MATH 1ZA3 - Want to start reviewing...
Basically, I want to start reviewing for MATH 1ZA3, so anyone that has taken the course in its first year in the program, how was it?
Can you give any insight as to what you guys learned?
Maybe some exact topics?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
please & thanks.

Its new. We had 1Z04 and 1ZZ5 the past 2 years. Not sure what exactly is going to be covered, so check the undergrad calender or hunt around for a website if its up
EDIT: here you go, enjoy. http://www.math.mcmaster.ca/childsa/1za3.html

Most likely, you'll be using Stewart's "Calculus: Early Transcendentals", 6E. As for course content, this is where I begin to hazard a guess. In my first year (the first year of Math 1Z04/1ZZ5) we covered differentiation, anti-derivatives, series & sequences, trigonometry, sums, mathematical induction, Newton's Method, curve sketching. Find the textbook for download (it's really easy). Series = Ch. 11; Trig = Appendix D; Sums (Sigma Notation) = Appendix E.

It will be fine. Think of it this way, you guys learn the material we did in 3 courses, instead of 2. So you have less load per course

Stewart's "Calculus: Early Transcendentals" is an extremely popular textbook for first/second year math all the way across canada. If you want it, look in a city library; they most likely have it. I know for example that the mississauga library system has several copies of it (editions cover the same content). Also, need i say if you really want it look no further than specific internet sites....

Yeah, but that doesnt really matter.
I talked to McLean and he said that the course is changed alot, they have 1 course mainly for computer-aided math...

I'd expect there to be a bit more work - kind of like taking 1A/1X03 in one semester and then 1AA/1XX3 + 1B03 the next.

They took out the tutorials and project for 1P03? Good. I emailed Fleisig in first year telling him that the project is dumb since most of the time, one person gets stuck doing the whole thing. Glad to see he finally sees that.
