Hi everyone!
Just wanted to introduce an MSU club and invite you to come to our training session next week and apply for executive member positions.
Who are ecoMentors?
We’re affiliated with Earth Day Canada’s ecoMentors program. Our aim is to raise environmental awareness by leading interactive workshops at local elementary schools! Last year, we held 10 environmental workshops at Canadian Martyrs' Elementary school (across the street from McMaster).
Why join ecoMentors?
This club is a low-commitment, fun and interactive way in which you can work with children and gain useful leadership and facilitation skills!
How does the club operate?
-Attend a training session to learn how to facilitate ecoMentors workshops
-Have a valid police check or get a new one (we will reimburse you for this)
-The club exec sets up workshop days and times with the elementary school
-You can sign up to facilitate any workshop that you have time for
-There is a 1 hour pre-workshop meeting where workshop facilitators review the lesson plan
-Each workshop is about 1 hour long and is done in groups of 4-5 facilitators
When is the training session?
We will discuss the club as well as these Executive positions in more detail at our training session:
Tuesday October 9
4:00-5:30 PM
MUSC
McMaster University Student Centre - Room 203
We also have new Executive Positions for the year. However, these positions are only available to individuals that complete the ecoMentors training session and are interested in doing our workshops.
Feel free to ask us any questions in this thread!
Hope to see you all soon!
