mcmaster email expiry
Hello, I set up my Macmaster email recently and during the process got a note that it will expire in 2011. How do we renew it then and do we have to do this every year? Thank you.

I have heard that Mac is switching their email system to Google Learning Institutes mail or something like that (don't remember the exact name). Although I don't think that is in their best interests. Google is very hackable, and they have enough information as it is!

As long as you are registered your e-mail will be active. I think it deactivates 6 months after you aren't at mcmaster anymore.

It shouldn't.

I've graduated and I still have access to mine.

Yeah same here, but it also hasn't been six months yet if that really is a rule.

I read somewhere that after a number of months after graduation, McMaster (probably from UTS) sends you an email asking whether you want to keep your email address and then you follow their directions if you do.

I think we have to pay extra for it, but forwarding is free. I'll have to e-mail UTS to check though.

Macid Expiry

Student macid's and email accounts expire on the 14th of October annually. You will receive an email to your McMaster account 28 days and 7 days before this date.

Continuing students who will need to have their account available, must enable their macid services annually after the registration period in order to keep their accounts active.

Students who have graduated, but have not convocated cannot enable their macid services, but their macid's and email accounts will be automatically set to expire on January 30 of the year following. This will allow time to establish an alumni account while maintaining continuity of the service.

It expires in October, 5.5 months after exams.
