McMaster Kinesiology!
I've recently applied to McMaster kin, as I've only heard great things about the program... I don't think anyone has had a bad experience.

However, I was wondering if anyone has any comments about the programs and if you have any advice on courses to take or stay away from. I'd like to hear both the positive and negative about anything!

I was also wondering if I'll get in, currently I've completed 6 grade 12 courses, including the prereq's for kin and I have a 90.67% average.

Thanks!

get used books, new ones are a wast of money
you have 4 electives in first year, take whatever interests you or whatever is going to benefit you
for example if you want to go to med school then your electives would be chemistry, biology, physics and maybe psych if you don't want med school then take easy ones like music, health age, and econ
all the profs are nice
try to attend all your lectures ! and be prepared for weekly Anatomy tests
oh i think you are going to get in that's a great average keep it up !
one last thing.... look forward to frosh week

take a look at this for more info about the courses : http://www.science.mcmaster. ca/kin...s/courses.html

I'm not really like SET ON MED SCHOOL, but it has been in the back of my head. Thanks for the tip about the textbooks though! Is there anywhere specific I can look (Except for this forum)? And would we receive a list of textbooks we need before classes start?

And... Is Frosh week super fun? LOL.

Silver has a good point
keep your average like that and maybe pull it up a little. keep your main focus on school now
but here you go:
there is a Facebook group called Mcmaster used textbooks look it up and like it !
you can also look up the books on Titles website http://www.bookstore.mcmaste r.ca/c.../ws/txhome.exe
find the name/ author edition then ask about it here on on the facebook group page
good luck with your studies

With an average like that you should be fine.

Welcome week is amazing, particularly if you're in kin. (I may be biased)

Biggest piece of advice for kin is to get to know your professors. Almost every professor in Kinesiology is great and are valuable resources. Plus if you are a good student and you get to know them, in my experience they are very happy to write a letter of reference for you.

Ahaha, it's tied between Mac or Western Kin + AEO, if I get AEO status that is. I'm so excited. And I've completed all the prereq's for Mac, so I'm pretty much free now. I finished all top 6 courses, all conditions have been met! Just need to accept..

Hello,

Did McMaster at one time have B. Kin and B.Sc in Kin as two separate streams? Or how did it work?

I think they used to have a BA in Kin or something (not a science degree, they used to be under the faculty of social sciences) and then several years ago (5-6 years?) they switched over to the faculty of science and now it's a BSc in Kin and that's all that's offered.

Oh I see I see, thanks! Kin seems like a fun program.. should I take the courses which are pre-reqs for med school just in case I decide I want to go to med school? It would be beneficial for me anyway even if I decide to go into like PT right?
