McMaster Library's Fiction Selection
Hullo all!
I am a /huge/ bookworm (though alas, I've fallen behind in my reading lately). I've always just bought books rather than going to the library because I live out in the middle of nowhere, and its much more convenient to create a stash of unread books over time than to be always driving into town to borrow or return books.
Now that I'll be going to Mac, however, not only will the library be conveniently located (and I'll have a whole network of friends to borrow from, too), but I'll have to be cutting back on my spending, which means avoiding the wonderful haven known as Chapters.
Does anyone know what the library's fiction section is like... if there IS a fiction section? Will my addiction be satisfied, or do I need to stock up on more books before I leave?
Thanks!
- Karen

The fiction section is alright, but the on campus libraries are more focused towards the academics, even though Mills has a small fiction section they're still working on expanding it. There is a public library in Westdale, within walking distance, so you should have your steady supply of books.
If you still want to buy I reccomend Bryan Prince Booksellers in Westdale, it's a very cute little bookstore with a good selection! The only thing is they don't have a members discount or 30% of sales like Chapters does :( I'm a big book nerd myself! There are two Coles' around though, each a short bus ride away!

There is a fiction section in Mills library that was started last year and continues to grow. We recognize that everyone needs a break (even me)! The fiction section is located on the second floor in the Mills Learning Commons, near the washrooms. You can even browse the covers online!

Happy reading!

I was wondering about this as well! I plan on bringing a few books to keep in my dorm in case I have any extra time to pick them up... which I worry I wont because of everything I hear about D++ lol

Everyone needs a break at some point! What better way to escape than a little fictional reading

Haven't checked out the library on campus, so I can't comment, but you should
honestly just get a membership to Hamilton Public Library, takes 10 minutes, and place an order online, and books get shipped to wherever you want to pick them up (one is on Main St. W i believe, and most east bound buses go near gore park, which has central library, the largest one).

Blake makes a good suggestion for the mean time - you can easily get a library card at the Hamilton Public Library. The nearest one is in Westdale.
