Profs are not paid to teach....its just a side requirement of their job needed to ensure funding for the university.

Some of these profs really should just give us back our tax paying/OSAP paying money back. I really just cant help shaking my head at some of the profs who are on this list. I mean if some of them conduct their research just as bad as they do lecturing students then all i have to say is wow.

Maybe because McMaster, at least partially, a public institution and thus, at least partially, is sponsored by our taxes?

It was an attempt by the outlaw-like Harris government to stir up dissension among Ontario's citizens, to make the poorer folks envious of those with higher incomes. The dividing line of $100K was set, and should have been updated, to maybe $120K or so by now. Many hardworking ordinary folks, cops with lots of overtime, retiring profs collecting a once-in-a-lifetime payout, etc., were grouped and painted with the same brush as top hospital administrators and university officials making half-a-million or so. What is not revealed is the outrageous salaries of CEOs in private industry making multi-millions, out of the sight of the public.

Key word there is private, and since we live in a society where we don't show our privates, the million dollar salaries go unseen. Also in this country the taxation of the rich is more or less a thing, unlike the south. So what are you complaining about?

What I find to be wrong in our economy is the grossly unfair distribution of wealth. There are too many people trying to survive at a minimum wage and there are scandalously high CEO salaries, many times the average of the workers in the same company. The middle-class, the typical lot of the modestly-educated ordinary folk, is being wiped out by current economic conditions, and the have-it-alls are notoriously unrepentant. It makes me sad to think that my children are headed for a life that will be harder and less rewarding that what I enjoyed.
