McMaster Security
Has anyone else ran into McMaster Security?

Things they enjoy: bullying students, getting paid bad wages, forcing students off campus while refusing to give a reason, and if you don't obey they'll twist your arm to hurt it, or threaten you with their pepper-spray. Ohman and has anyone ran into Tyler Roger? Some kid was being arrested just cause he didn't feel like leaving his own campus for no reason, Tyler just yells at him with a huge 6 year old bully smile on his face "you're going to jail *****." Seriously that guy must have had some daddy issues growing up or something amirite?

keep calling them Mac2-5, they really are only half 5-0.

A) The site edits out swear words, we prefer a polite environment
B) McMaster Security Services employs Peace Officers sworn in with Hamilton Police, so call them mall cops all you want but they can still arrest you and lay charges. On campus, they are the Police whether you like it or not.
C) McMaster Security has the right to ask you to leave campus, it is private property whether you're a student or not. If Constable Rogers asked your friend to leave campus he clearly thought your friend was out of line.
D) If you have a complaint to make, by all means, make one. But when you do, you should note that acting immature and throwing around accusations like "daddy issues" isn't going to get you anywhere.

I read something a while ago about them starting at like 24 bucks an hour.. not bad wages.

It also sounds like your friend was breaking the law. If the officers tell you to leave, then you gotta leave. It's simple.

they force people off campus?

why/when did this occur. Seems like you're forgetting a few details.
People sleep in the student centre overnight, they don't get kicked out or anything. I think it's okay staying on campus unless you're doing something "bad", like something being drunk and disorderly or loitering.

Nope, not doing Anything wrong, except asking for a reason why they have to leave...and mac25 not giving a reason, so asking again, still not given a reason so then some arm twisting and pushing and threats. Mac25 will use force if they become confused and don't get their way, even if they can't even explain what they want in words. I think they should learn how to talk when dealing with a human being lol. clearly mac25 are a classy group.

Contrary to what steps2health says, I have never had an issue with McMaster Security Services, and nor has anyone I know.

I was actually sexually abused off-campus in my first year and they were incredibly helpful in letting me know who to contact, what to do and offering overall support.

There's usually two groups of citizens: those that blatantly piss off security, and those that suck up to them (i.e. lookit, he's doing a fine job protecting us!). The best is to just act respectfully, but pretend they're not even there. Most of them just want the power trip.

It's rare that you'll find a police officer/mall cop that is simply doing his/her job. So alas I've just given up on them. But the key is to act respectfully.

If your friend was escorted off campus by McMaster Security, there would have been a reason for it. I suggest your friend get in touch with Security Services and ask for that reason. He may have been mistaken for someone else, he won't know unless he asks and gets a proper explanation, which he deserves.

@steps2health: Please watch your language. MacInsiders will not tolerate calling McMaster security 'pigs' 'mall cops' or 'losers'. If you want to show respect, I suggest starting here.

If your friend has an issue with how McMaster Security handled a situation, I suggest they contact Security Services using one of the methods below to find a solution.

I wouldn't recommend discussing something like this on a forum affiliated with the university.

Honestly, I have to disagree with you, one because you're generalizing to a stereotype and because I work with these officers and have been for almost a year. As a student and their co-worker I can say that they're a great bunch. Granted, I'm biased because I'd call a lot of them my friends but on the other hand we have a mutual respectful relationship because they're not jerks to me and I'm not jerks to them.

Keep in mind that not everyone's having a good day, that doesn't excuse people's behaviour but we all do it. Besides, they deal with jerk students and staff every day, even I deal with jerk students and staff that come into our office but they get it more because students tend to have that "oh, here comes the po-po, they're out to get us cause we're having fun". No, they're not, they don't care if you're having fun so long as you respect the rules and other people.

As someone who knows Constable Rogers (the officer earlier complained about) I can tell you that he wouldn't have kicked the student off campus for no reason, he would get in trouble for abusing his power as an officer. I'm sorry but I simply do not believe that you're friend is as innocent as you make him/her out to be.

It's okay BH, no one is going to get in trouble so long as they don't break the TOS
