This is probably really obvious but I don't know anyone in University so if this seems stupid I am very sorry! My question is this: When do our midterms occur, (before or after the midterm recess) and what is the point of the test and examination ban...is that a week off of school for us?
Thank you very much!

Depend on the course. Check the syllabus.

Usually midterms start around October..they'll tell you the date of the midterms in class or it might be in your course outline.
Test ban week is like a week where you don't have any midterms so you can foucs on your exams..it's not a week off.

It will definitely be on the course outline (syllabus). They can't just announce it in class since its unfair to students that missed that particular class. The only legal way they can held you responsible for a test is if its on the syllabus.

Its a mini-reading week. So instead of getting a whole week off, you get a few days as a sample. Think Costco...
