What is a minor?
So I am in Life Sci first year and planning to go into Medical Physics but I also really like Psychology so I have a question about minoring and all that stuff.
  • So what is a minor exactly and how do I do it?
  • Is it good to minor in something?
  • What does it do for you?
  • Can I minor in psychology if I take medical physics?

A minor is about a collection of 24 units you have to take in a specific subject field.

As far as I know it shows up on your transcript you get when you graduate , maybe for your faculty it will show up on your offical degree.

Minor is subjective. I mean to say whether it is good or not is whether you are intersted in it and whether it can help you in your career.

The requirements are sack, the noly required are 1x03 and 1xx3 and 6 units must be level 3 and 4 .

Good luck

you can only do a minor if you're taking an either a 4 or 5 year program. So typically an honours program.

It's a smaller, less important degree that you add on as a secondary field of expertise. It's like ordering a burger and fries: the burger is the important thing, or the major degree, and the fries come on the side, or the minor degree. The burger without the fries is a meal, the burger with the fries is a meal, but the fries themselves are not a meal.
You can minor in anything, but it's easier just to minor in something related to your field.

If you get the delicious sauce as well, you'd be surprised how satisfying a meal of two boxes of Swiss Chalet fries can make.
