Minor/BA Economics
I'm considering a BA or minor in economics but I want to aim
for a high GPA to keep my options open for graduate school. Does anyone know
how difficult it would be to achieve a 10+ in 2nd and 3rd year econ courses? I
think I'm pretty hard working but I thought the final exam for econ 1b03 with
prof Hannah Holmes last semester was pretty difficult

I also took calculus in gr.12 and didn't do too well (74%). I've hear upperyear courses are math intensive but do you think it's still possible for me todo well?

Thanks in advance!

The only course that may give you a bit of trouble in terms of 2nd year courses is Econ 2G03/2X03, other than that the other courses are pretty easy, especially the 2nd year econ electives. As for 3rd year courses, they are not that hard and not nearly as math incentives as everyone says they are. The math is very simple and there is no integration, just simple derivatives and a simple algebra. If you don't like dealing with math then do not take a class with Prof James Bruce because his courses are literally all math.

Math used for Econ is pretty soft. You'll be fine.

If you're looking to get 10+ in upper year econ courses you should be comfortable with calculus. in second year the harder of the econ classes (that deal almost exclusively with math) are 2g03 and 2gg3. for third year courses 3u03 (econometrics) is all math, try to get it with someone besides yamaguchi. the math isn't really hard but someone who is not too comfortable with calculus might experience some trouble. like any other program if you're looking to achieve 10+'s you are going to have to put the work in. for future reference only take advice from people who are actually in the program you are inquiring about
