Missed Bio quiz
Hey guys. I was on avenue and looking at my bio grade sheet when I realized i've already missed one of the quizzes. I didn't know it was there, and it was one of the bio 1a03 skills lab quizzes. What should I do? I'm freaking out here.

Take the 0 or MSAF it. It's your expectation as a student to check avenue for quizzes and what not. I believe avenue warns you when something is due soon.

I don't mind taking the 0, I'm just worried that this is mandatory for me to participate in labs or pass the course.

Don't take the 0. Email the professor and see what can be done about it. Don't just roll over and accept things ever in your life. Fight for your grade back.

Of course, why should you take responsibility for your actions (or in this case, inactions)?
There's a difference between accepting "things" and taking responsibility.
The same thing happened to me in first term of first year. It ended up making the difference between a 9 and a 10 in the course, but it was my fault and I deserved to get a zero on it. If I didn't, it's not fair to the rest of the class that actually did know what was going on and do the quiz on time. The OP can "fight" for their grade back all they want, but they don't deserve it and shouldn't get it.

That sucks so bad.
To the OP, yeah, it's only worth 0.5%. Chances are that it won't have any effect on your mark, so I don't think you should MSAF it, unless you think you won't use the MSAF any other time during this term. Maybe you could explain your situation to Alastair Tracey, he might not be willing to do anything, but it's worth a shot.

It does suck. It was made even worse by the fact that they gave me the 10 to begin with, and later on changed it to a 9 (due to a calculation error unrelated to me missing the quiz). But it was still my own stupidity. I'm still annoyed with myself over it, but at the end of the day it really doesn't affect anything that matters.
I agree that it's a very small thing to "waste" the MSAF on, especially so early in the term.
