I couldn't go to the first class of one of my courses, and I'm a little confused about how I should find out what we did.
I don't really want to go up and ask the prof in class...is there anywhere it would be posted or something?

You can check Avenue for the course outline since generally the first class is dedicated to going over it and talking about the basics of the course. You could also ask someone what was done next class. Profs know that people are switching in and out of classes so I am sure that if you asked them they would have no problem telling you what was covered.
