Mississauga to McMaster?
I will be commuting from Mississauga to Mac since I won't be living on residence,
so does anyone know,
what the FASTEST way of commuting to Mac is?

I know about taking the GO Bus from Square One, and Google Maps says the trip will take about 1hr & 20 mins.,
while someone else told me that going from Clarkson GO Station or going from Oakville will be much faster...

If anyone here knows it,
I'd be very thankful if you could answer this question of mine!

I find the GO, the best option. It takes about 45 mins at tops from Sq. One to Mac. The express (47B) runs exclusively from Sq. One to Mac, and that takes about 35 mins.

If you need the timings you can find them here:

The bus from Square One to Mac is the fastest, especially if you catch one of the express ones (i.e. doesn't make any stops in between).

I'm not sure how you searched Google Maps, but keep in mind that the GO bus takes the 407...and runs into very little traffic.

Fastest is definitely 47B or 47A express, 35-40 minutes and you are on campus.
Source: I've been taking GO for 2 years now :'(

Take the GO train from Clarkson GO to Aldershot Station. Transfer onto a GO bus to Mac. takes about 50 minutes-1 hour depending on road conditions.

I've been commuting since first year. So far in my experience, it takes up to 35 mins via the express (47 A and 47B), but the regular 47 takes up to 45 to 50 mins.

So i think it may the faster than having to take the train from Clarkson. Plus during the school year there will be plenty of expresses around the clock.

alright, THANKS AGAIN!

Does anyone here though have that...GO Student ID?
Because I heard that you can get a 10%-30% discount on your rides if you have that ID,
but I just am not sure about any processes involved in getting one of those?
:/

Well now you cant buy 2 or 10 rides, you just top up your presto card. And I think if you go to the booth and you prove that youre a full time student (not sure exactly how) then they will set your presto card to student fare, and youll automatically save the X% when you tap

EDIT: I dont know how monthly passes work, maybe thats a whole different story

At Mac our Student ID is used for that, there isn't a separate card that we have to get for the discount. Just show your Student ID when you're paying for your pass at the GO station

THANKS!

I just thought there's a long process involved in it,
cause I heard from someone that you have to line up (I don't know at which office) on the first week of September to get some form that you will then bring to a GO Station...

so yeah, idk,
but this helps a lot so thank you

this all depends where you live too. If you have to drive to a place like Clarkson for more than 10 minutes, and the commute from Clarkson to Mac takes (for example) 40 minutes, you're still commuting 50 minutes.

What everyone said about taking the express from Square One is true. It's incredibly fast, and to be honest, on the GO bus (as annoying as it can be sometimes) time goes by pretty fast especially if you're occupied.

Avoid anything that has to do with Aldershot. Transferring during a commute is incredibly annoying.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add:
The bus ride from my house to Square One is about 15-20 minutes...
And I also just found out that going from my home to Clarkson GO would take about 35 minutes,
so I guess the GO Bus from Square One is indeed my best option.
Thanks!
